Job description

Be a part of a revolutionary change At PMI, we are transforming our business around one clear purpose: to deliver a smoke-free future. Following the acquisition of Swedish Match and its leading oral nicotine portfolio, we are expanding access to better alternatives for legal-age nicotine users who would otherwise continue to smoke. Your day to day Translate complex scientific, regulatory, and public health evidence on tobacco harm reduction, nicotine science, smoke-free products, and regulatory science into clear, credible materials for policymakers, public health stakeholders, healthcare professionals, media, and third-party audiences.

Serve as a scientific subject matter expert and develop engagement strategies that advance understanding of the science supporting smoke-free products. Build and maintain relationships with scientific experts, researchers, healthcare professionals, academic institutions, and key scientific opinion leaders. Support external engagement through scientific briefings, educational sessions, conferences, advisory discussions, and forums.

Create evidence-based narratives, FAQs, briefing documents, presentations, publications, evidence reviews, and educational resources for External Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Communications, Legal, and policy initiatives. Monitor emerging scientific literature, public health trends, and regulatory developments to inform business strategy, stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based policy discussions. Preferred experience and qualifications Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, toxicology, medicine, behavioral science, health policy, pharmacy, or a related scientific discipline. 7 or more years of related public health, scientific engagement, regulatory, or industry experience.

Broad knowledge of tobacco and nicotine science, tobacco harm reduction, FDA tobacco product regulatory processes, and related public health issues. Proven ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to scientific and non-scientific audiences, including clinicians, lawyers, government officials, trade groups, and external stakeholders. Strong scientific writing, presentation, interpersonal, networking, creative thinking, and strategic thinking skills.

Experience representing an organization in external scientific or policy environments, with a reputation for ethical conduct and unquestionable integrity. Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively across a matrixed, cross-functional organization.

Annual base salary range

$176,000-$220,000 What we offer We offer a competitive base salary, annual bonus where applicable, medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, wellness benefits, commuter benefits, pet insurance, generous PTO, and more. Through Smart Work, our hybrid model, we support flexibility while encouraging collaboration and connection. You will have the freedom to define your future, develop your skills in a global business, contribute to an inclusive and diverse culture, and take pride in work tied to PMI’s broader transformation and smoke-free purpose.
