Job description

Change the world. Love your job. Texas Instruments Germany is located in Freising. The FAB is a 200-mm Analog fab We manufacture products for a broad portfolio ranging from low cost CMOS technologies for switches to advanced Analog BiCMOS technologies for high speed and precision applications.

About the Job

The student will learn how to perform physical failure analysis on semiconductor samples. He will work in the process analysis lab which is part of the wafer fabrication in Freising. Main techniques used are SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy), EDX (Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy), FIB (Focused Ion Beam). For sample preparation Plasma and Wet etching techniques are available.

Prior physical analysis parametric measurements to characterize semiconductor components are also necessary for the failure analysis work. Subsequent Bachelor/Master Thesis is appreciated.

Responsibilities include: Team work with process lab technicians to determine possible root cause of failures in semiconductor samples, improve or develop new semiconductor processes and components. Perform failure analysis on semiconductor samples with physical, electrical, mechanical or chemical methods, such as Electron Microscopy, Atom Force Microscopy and Transmission Electron Microscopy, Focus Ion Beam, Parametric Analyzer, Chemical Etching, Device Edit, Hot Spot analysis.

Work with outside international laboratories for failure analysis on semiconductor samples, such as SIMS (Secondary Electron Mass Spectroscopy), Auger, XPS ( XRay Photon Spectroscopy ), Spreading Resistance etc.
