职位介绍 Tesla is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with a strong automation and commissioning background to join the development team (CAE - Core Automation Engineering). The primary focus of this role is to commission and support Tesla's in-house AMR fleet and related automation, working with the CAE team on production-line integration at Tesla factories. CAE creates elegant automation solutions to build and assemble Tesla products across manufacturing areas (Body in White, Paint, Casting, General Assembly, Drive Unit, Battery).

Primary focus is hands-on commissioning and continuous improvement of internally developed AMRs, with strong PLC ownership for line and interface integration. The candidate will work with international teams and apply practical automation skills in a manufacturing environment.

This position is based at our Gigafactory facility in China producing the Model 3 and Model Y. 职位描述 Commission, debug, and improve in-house AMR systems (navigation, safety, docking, fleet behavior) and integrate them into production material flow Own PLC-side integration between AMRs, line equipment, and factory systems (interfaces, sequences, fault handling); contribute to software where needed for commissioning and system stability

• Perform on-floor troubleshooting of AMR, PLC, network, and interface issues during ramp and production
• Support supplier and internal design reviews, factory acceptance testing, and cross-team coordination where AGV or material-flow equipment is involved Debug and tune the AGV/AMR fleet dispatch and traffic-management system, including task assignment, path planning/conflict resolution, docking sequencing, and recovery from dispatch failures
• Collaborate with software and controls developers to improve the functionality and standards for AMR and dispatching system based on project lesson learn Comply with company rules and regulations, proactively identify and report potential hazards and incidents, and provide safety recommendations to create a safe environment through continuous improvement.

• 2+ years of experience in automation, AGV commissioning with hands-on PLC work Hands-on AGV experience (commissioning, integration, or fleet support) strongly preferred PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal required), including automation system troubleshooting Software skills (Python required) and basic knowledge of database applications (MySQL preferred) ROS / ROS2 experience is a strong plus
• Proficiency in oral and written English
