The 1st Engineer is responsible for the safety systems and deck machinery onboard. They perform maintenance and repairs within machinery spaces as instructed by the Staff Chief Engineer, ensuring the Engine Room remains operational and safe. The 1st Engineer is on call 24/7 to respond to emergencies or other non-standard operating conditions. The 1st Engineer is exempt from regular watch duties, except under unusual circumstances and as authorized by the Chief Engineer. Employees may be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor, management, or the Chief Engineer. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with the Company's Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.
