Medical Image Annotation Technician

Primary Function of Position We are seeking a Medical Image Annotation Technician to support Ion’s Machine Learning Engineering team. In this role, you will work with CT, MRI, ultrasound, and bronchoscopy images to support the development of state-of-the-art image-guided robotic systems. You will create high-quality ground truth datasets for medical imaging algorithms using manual and semi-automated segmentation tools.

This role requires strong attention to detail, and a focus on accuracy and consistency.

Essential Job Duties

• Perform manual and semi-automated segmentation of anatomical structures in medical images
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, high-quality annotations
• Conduct self-review and quality checks on completed work
• Document workflows, issues, and edge cases clearly
• Collaborate with engineers and clinical experts to refine annotation guidelines

• Ability to follow structured workflows and repeat processes at scale
• Solid communication and documentation skills Comfort working extensively with software tools and computer-based tasks Reliable, disciplined work ethic Preferred Skills and Experience: Ideally, a candidate would also have: Fluency in Spanish and English preferred but not required Experience with medical imaging software (e.g., 3D Slicer, ITK-SNAP, OsiriX, etc.) Basic understanding of human anatomy
• Familiarity with DICOM data and imaging concepts Prior experience in data annotation, QA, or regulated environments
