Job description

Mine Planning Advisor Barrick is seeking a Mine Planning Advisor to join the Technical Services – Projects Mine team. This individual will be responsible for mentoring and monitoring the mine technical team using best practices, developing and training personnel in planning processes, analyzing budget and production reports, and leading continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with established rules, policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

Develop professional development plans to train and mentor national employees, enabling them to perform their roles competently, with a strong focus on succession planning and career development. Provide technical support in areas such as Life of Mine (LOM) design, mine planning, equipment selection, cost analysis, and implementation of best practices. Ensure the quality and capability of the technical team through established processes and procedures; where these are missing or insufficient, develop and implement best practices.

Strengthen the team’s knowledge of safe and effective engineering practices, ensuring optimal compliance with operational plans and work instructions. Ensure quality in planning practices and processes (daily, weekly, quarterly, and long-term) through continuous monitoring to achieve alignment with long-term strategy. Develop improvement projects in collaboration with other departments, focused on enhancing production, profitability, and overall business efficiency.

Foster a proactive and engaging team culture, guiding the team toward exceptional results. Monitor compliance with legal obligations, Barrick policies and procedures, and promote behavioral safety programs to ensure adherence to corporate standards established at PVDC.

Qualifications

University degree in a relevant field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning within a mining environment. Minimum of 10 years of experience in supervisory roles. Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.

Software proficiency

Microsoft Office (essential), Vulcan, Deswik. Availability to work at Barrick Pueblo Viejo. The mine is located in the Dominican Republic, approximately 100 km (62 miles) northwest of Santo Domingo, in Sánchez Ramírez province, near the town of Cotuí.
