• Underground Mine Planning DEPARTMENT Technical Services LOCATION Geita Gold Mine, Tanzania EMPLOYMENT STATUS Fixed Term OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE The Specialist
• Underground Mine Planning supports the Director Technical Services, Planning Manager and Superintendent to develop an effective team capable of delivering the life of mine plan.

The role provides oversight to achieve strategic objectives and targets, assesses team capability and utilization, and promotes integration between underground and open pit planning teams.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Provide specialist support to develop and assess asset options and recommend preferred planning outcomes to optimise value. Support delivery of the annual Strategic Planning budget and integrate long, medium- and short-term plans across the three underground operations to achieve key physicals and ore blend requirements. Monitor performance against plan through KPI tracking, analysis and audits, and implement design updates, rescheduling and cross-team collaboration to address variances.

Support annual Mineral Reserve Reporting work packages for underground operations in accordance with S-K 1300 and AngloGold Ashanti guidelines. Build planning team capability through training, coaching and mentoring, and develop integrated planning systems that improve work planning, monitoring, efficiency and reduce rework. Promote safety, health and environmental compliance, drive value improvement initiatives, and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification Bachelor of Engineering in Mining Engineering or relevant mining discipline and experience. Engineering Registration board. Competent Person in accordance with S-K 1300, JORC, SAMREC or NI43-101. Physically fit and able to pass pre-employment and medical examinations and screening. Experience, Knowledge and Skills

At least 10 years experience in underground mining operations. Experience in studies management of mine evaluation and optimization. Experience using mine design and scheduling software including Deswik preferred, Studio UG, EPS, Ventsim, Vulcan and Mineable Stope Optimiser. Experience working across multiple technical and operational disciplines. Knowledge across resource and reserve estimation, underground mine design, infrastructure specification, scheduling, equipment selection, cost estimation, strategic planning, discounted cash flow analysis, budgeting, and contractor and consultant management.

Sound understanding of geological value drivers, risk drivers, geology and geotechnical principles. Excellent mine planning and design capability with knowledge of metallurgical, environmental and safety considerations. Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, interpersonal, coaching and conflict resolution skills. Capability in strategic planning, project management, budgeting and cost control, continuous improvement and delivery to required standards and timelines.

Ability to work and communicate effectively with people at all levels and demonstrate behaviors consistent with AngloGold Ashanti values.
