As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. As a collaborative Staff Software Engineer, you will help build both our flagship agent features and the engineering foundation behind them.

In this role, you will act as a technical anchor for a small, full-stack team—working side-by-side with UX and fellow engineers to take new proactive and background agent projects from early prototypes to live user experiments in weeks rather than quarters. At the same time, you will partner across Photos and Gemini teams to design and own the scalable production backend systems that allow proven experiments to graduate cleanly and run reliably at Google Photos scale.
