As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. Spanner Batch Team empowers customers to perform large-scale data processing against their Spanner databases efficiently, reliably, and without impacting live transactional workloads.

Key initiatives include enhancing efficiency of writes by developing improved mechanisms for read-modify-write operations, creating more performant bulk data loading pathways(essential for emerging AI/ML workloads), introducing advanced mutation semantics and data life-cycle management features. These efforts collectively aim to strenthen Spanner as a comprehensive platform for both online transactional systems and offline large-scale data processing.
