Summer/Fall 2027 Co-Op: Channel Integration

Job description

As a Read/Write Channel Integration Engineer, you will work with industry leading Hard Disk Drive (HDD) technology, evaluating new channel features, performing failure analysis, and developing scripts and tools to test an advanced digital signal processing chip, used for data recording and readback.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Integration of vendor channels to maximize HDD read/write performance Test HDDs in a hands on, lab-based environment, using oscilloscopes to aid in failure analysis (FA)

• Develop and execute hardware test plans; summarize and present results within and outside channel team Software skills required to support and develop effective test tools
• Work closely with vendor technical support teams and our internal Western Digital product development teams This role is part of WD's early career development program.

Qualifications

REQUIRED Currently pursuing BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience Persistence on problem/issue resolution

Excellent communication skills and a good team player Strong programming skills (Python, C/C++, Tcl, etc.) preferred
