Job description

Develop and lead a forward-looking communications strategy for Walmart Connect across earned, owned, executive, and advertiser-facing channels. Define a differentiated narrative for Walmart’s role in commerce media, grounded in customer value, advertiser outcomes, and Walmart’s unique understanding of commerce. Translate complex advertising, technology, data, and measurement capabilities into clear, compelling stories for business, media, and industry audiences.

Advise senior leaders on messaging, positioning, and communications strategy as the business and category evolve. Identify moments and stories that demonstrate Walmart’s differentiation beyond individual product announcements. Develop thought leadership platforms for Walmart Connect executives around the evolving relationship between commerce, media, technology, and customer experience.

What You’ll Bring

10+ years of communications leadership experience , ideally across advertising, media, technology, retail, consumer brands, or other rapidly evolving industries. Strong knowledge of the advertising and media landscape , including the forces reshaping how brands reach and understand customers. Exceptional storytelling instincts , with the ability to make complex businesses and technologies understandable, relevant, and engaging.

Deep media relations experience and strong instincts for what makes a compelling business, advertising, or technology story. Strong executive presence and the ability to influence across a large, matrixed organization. Exceptional writing skills , with an instinct for clear, simple language over industry jargon. The annual salary range for this position is $156,000.00 - $312,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or related field and 6 years’ experience in journalism, communications, or relevant area OR 8 years’ experience in journalism, communications, or relevant area. 2 years’ supervisory experience.
