Context and overview
The next generation of commercial aircraft is scheduled for flight in the late 2030s. In this internship, you will be responsible for the design and demonstration of a position sensor acquisition chain, implementing the latest and greatest components from Texas Instruments. You will focus on building a proof-of-concept showing size/power/accuracy improvements versus the solutions used today in the avionics industry and present this in front of an expert group in TI.
Subject and expectation
The goal of the internship will be first to get familiar with Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) units on a system level, to then focus on its acquisition chains. Specifically, you will design, test and demonstrate an acquisition and conditioning chain for a position sensor. This system could be composed of operational amplifiers, ADCs, DACs, filters and power supplies. Your goal will be to minimize the overall solution size while reducing power consumption and maintaining an acceptable acquisition resolution.
Your work will start with the definition of specifications, continue with architecture/ block diagram proposals, and finish with the design and validation of your PCB. Any step can have iterations depending on TI’s and our avionics customer’s feedback, as you may be involved in customer meetings.
The team you will join
In this role, you will be part of the European Aerospace and Defense sales team and based in the Texas Instruments office in Paris – Issy les Moulineaux. This team is composed of Field application engineers, responsible for the technical support of key customers in the region, and sales representatives, responsible for their commercial support. During your internship, you will also be connected to TI’s worldwide product lines and system experts.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field Fluent French and English skills (at least B2)
- Solid presentation skills Basic understanding of schematics, layouts and digital components
- Knowledge and understanding of analog circuitry (examples include op-amps, DC/DC power, data converters, sensing, etc.) Experience with at least one PCB design tool (Altium, Allegro, …) Basic knowledge of working with electrical Lab equipment like digital power supplies, oscilloscopes, solder stations… Other information specific to the role If successful, your internship may lead to a job offer as graduate Analog Field Applications Engineer in 2027
