Job description

THE ROLE Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lithium-Ion Cell Engineer to join our team in designing and developing cutting-edge battery cells for our electric vehicles. As a Lithium-Ion Cell Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving key engineering decisions, collaborating with internal and external teams, and pushing and qualifying new cell designs from concept to mass production.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drive key engineering decisions with Tesla teams and external cell manufacturers to push and qualify new cell designs from concept to mass production
• Collaborate with internal design teams globally and test team to define cell electrochemical, mechanical, and safety performance requirements, and generate qualification plan
• Negotiate requirements and final product specification with cell manufacturers
• Define qualification plans to validate new cell designs and execute at both internal test team and cell manufacturers Root cause new failure modes and fine-tune design Synthesize qualification status into program level impacts and report regularly to Tesla leadership

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, chemistry, materials science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent. 3+ years experience with lithium-ion battery cell design, cell qualification, or cell manufacturing project management etc. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Fluency in Mandarin and English. This job application may involve an interview with an interviewer outside of Tesla China.
