SBU Driver Mechanic

Job description

The SBU Driver Mechanic performs vehicle mechanical work beginning with basic assembly and/or removal of parts, minor repairs such as replacing fuel systems, unit connections and other components.​ Duties increase with time and experience on the job. Most advanced work may include fabricating experimental parts and test fixtures and working from blueprints/drawings. Other responsibilities include driving test vehicles at various speeds on varying road conditions.​ ​ Weekend overtime is required for this position.​ Basic

Qualifications: ​ High school diploma or equivalent A minimum of 1 year of experience​ Basic knowledge of mathematics, reading and writing​ Organizational skills​ Mechanical skills and knowledge of mechanical systems​ Welding Experience​ Troubleshooting skills​ Ability to use and understand computerized diagnostic equipment​ Automotive background ​ ​ Preferred Qualifications: ​ Associate degree​ Apprenticeship or internship in automotive mechanics​ Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified​ Specialty certifications ​
