The PSG NPI Product Engineer is responsible for supporting new product introduction activities from development through production release. The role serves as a technical focal point for product transfer, qualification, yield improvement, product performance, and manufacturing readiness to enable successful launches and sustainable production. The engineer collaborates with Design, Test Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to resolve technical issues and meet business, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
Responsibilities
New Product Introduction and Product Release Lead and coordinate NPI activities from engineering development through manufacturing release and production ramp. Plan and support engineering builds, product characterization, qualification, and release readiness reviews. Drive product transfer activities and ensure manufacturing documentation, test coverage, material readiness, and process controls are in place. Monitor project milestones, technical risks, dependencies, and deliverables, escalating issues with clear recommendations when required.
Product Engineering and Technical Ownership Provide product-level engineering support throughout the product lifecycle and act as a key interface between development and manufacturing teams. Analyze electrical test, wafer, assembly, yield, reliability, and quality data to identify product improvement opportunities. Lead structured root cause analysis and corrective actions for product-related yield, performance, quality, or reliability issues.
Develop and maintain product specifications, limits, technical documentation, qualification records, and engineering change requirements. Evaluate product and process changes to confirm technical feasibility, risk, manufacturability, and impact on performance. Yield, Quality, and Continuous Improvement Monitor product performance and key indicators, including yield, defect pareto, test coverage, reliability, and customer quality results.
Drive yield improvement, test optimization, cost reduction, and cycle-time improvement projects using data-driven methods. Partner with Failure Analysis, Quality, Reliability, Test, and Process Engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues. Support containment, corrective action, and prevention activities using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, DOE, and SPC. Cross-Functional Collaboration Coordinate with global and site-based stakeholders to align qualification plans, technical requirements, manufacturing readiness, and launch priorities.
Communicate technical findings, risks, progress, and recommendations to engineering and business stakeholders. Support customer-related technical inquiries, audits, and issue resolution when required. Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior engineers or project team members where applicable.
