Backend (BE) / OSAT Sourcing Buyer

Job description

onsemi is seeking a self-driven and motivated professional to join the External Manufacturing Sourcing team, located in Zhubei, Taiwan Region. As a Backend (BE) / OSAT Sourcing Buyer, you will work primarily with assigned outsourced semiconductor assembly and test suppliers, Business Units, and Operations teams to secure competitive, reliable assembly, packaging, and test services. We operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires a matrix organization approach to managing suppliers, stakeholders, and processes.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to: Supplier management: Own the commercial interface and lead negotiations with key OSAT, assembly, packaging, and test suppliers.

Business unit support

Address the commercial and sourcing needs of Business Units for backend assembly, packaging, and test services. Lead sourcing activities across the Procure-to-Pay process, including RFQs, cost analysis, purchase order execution, contract support, and sourcing-system discipline. Serve as the focal point between Commercial Sourcing, External Manufacturing Operations, Planning, Quality, Engineering, and Finance to deliver best-in-class business results.

Monitor supplier performance and KPIs, including cost and productivity, delivery, cycle time, quality, capacity, technology readiness, and corrective action plans. Lead and support projects aligned with strategic priorities for growth, people, and execution, including new-product introductions, supplier qualifications, transfers, and capacity expansions. Promote onsemi values through actions and maintain a positive image of Procurement with internal and external partners.

Lead the strategic selection and commercial management of OSATs and other backend suppliers across assembly, advanced packaging, final test, wafer sort, and related services. Work with External Manufacturing, production planning, engineering, quality, and SCM team members to ensure qualified and reliable assembly and test capacity is available at competitive cost to support strategic goals. Influence onsemi business strategy through make/buy analysis, OSAT source selection, package and test platform decisions, dual-sourcing strategies, and supplier capability roadmaps.

Qualifications

BS degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field from an accredited university is required. Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% to support supplier engagements, business reviews, qualifications, and escalations. Three or more years of experience in the semiconductor industry, preferably in OSAT sourcing, backend manufacturing, assembly, packaging, test, or subcontract operations.

Working knowledge of semiconductor backend cost drivers, including package materials, substrates and leadframes, assembly processes, test platforms, labor, yield, cycle time, equipment utilization, and capacity. Action-oriented, with demonstrated ability to deliver measurable results on cost, supply assurance, supplier performance, and strategic initiatives. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment on priorities, supplier issues, and escalation paths.

Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, analyze commercial data, and focus on the actions with the greatest business impact. Fluency in written and spoken English is required; Mandarin Chinese is strongly preferred.
