Worker Type: Maximum Term/Fixed Term (Fixed Term) Provide leadership and technical expertise for the Head of Engineering for NAB Digital Services, with strong leadership experience to drive engineering standards and capabilities across our exciting products. As the Head of Engineering, you will: Deliver ongoing operations of IT Digital roadmaps, support strategy definition, and lead and motivate a dynamic, multidisciplinary team.

Participate in the architectural design of digital services, modernisation initiatives, and decision-making with stakeholders in the corporate office in Australia. Maintain and operate highly skilled teams and act as a technical team leader for individuals in Vietnam and, if required, Australia in the future. Maintain sustainable systems and platforms by managing technology and risks in accordance with NAB standards and relevant regulatory requirements.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide technical leadership for the Digital Sub-Domain and be accountable for the on-time delivery of Sprint/SDLC epics and features. Lead, coach, and mentor technology resources to uplift their skills and knowledge, enabling them to perform their roles effectively and build a high-performing team. Drive technical delivery with a focus on improving the speed, cost, and quality of outcomes, ensuring squads are aligned on objectives and outcomes.

Support and drive lean portfolio management across the Digital domains by linking business roadmaps with software and platform delivery. Manage cross-functional, agile teams across business units to achieve planned targets. Be accountable for removing technical or delivery impediments that cannot be resolved at the squad level. Manage financials to ensure the achievement of plans and drive CI/CD. Develop market-leading capability through the strategic deployment of departmental resources, resulting in optimal resource allocation and successful Digital product development.

Contribute as a NICV expert and to NAB corporate IT leadership by building innovation in AI, Cloud expertise, and other relevant areas. Advise and/or be responsible to stakeholders regarding the development, testing, deployment, and operation of NAB Digital services from NICV, Vietnam Innovation Center Vietnam. Perform other tasks as assigned by your People Leader and/or an authorised representative of NAB Vietnam from time to time.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Experience in Digital delivery within large, complex organisations operating in global services and workforce management, preferably within banking or financial services. A high level of practical expertise, combined with significant business depth and strategic vision, to effectively assess the potential value that can be delivered by IT systems. Experience managing and delivering multi-business-unit initiatives and large, complex programs involving multiple streams, regions, and vendors.

Experience building, leading, and managing teams of more than 50 world-class engineers in a highly complex environment. Ability to navigate a large, complex organisation and build relationships with senior stakeholders through both informal and formal networks. Ability to lead a team that thinks and executes like a fintech while operating within the balance sheet and risk appetite of one of Australia’s largest banks. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work effectively under stressful situations when required, with strong personal resilience. Strong planning, prioritisation, and organisational skills. Critical thinking and the ability to identify risks and areas of gaps and seek assistance when required. Strong stakeholder management skills, with a high level of influence among peers and stakeholders. Knowledge of financial management, planning, and forecasting techniques.

Experience in capacity management, resource allocation, and technical team leadership. Ability to track, measure, and continuously improve team performance.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 10+ years of experience working in financial services technology, ideally within a Tier 1 bank. Minimum of five years of experience in both technology change and operations, including triage management. Minimum of five years of experience managing technology teams of more than 30 employees. Technical experience in development, design, architecture, and/or consulting. KEY STAKEHOLDERS Technology Executives in Australia, India, and Vietnam.

Risk Management Executives, including CISO groups. General Director, NICV. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Management and delivery of Digital Technology according to agreed plans and budgets.
