Improver – Escalators Location: Heathrow Company: KONE Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off – Days, 6:00am–6:00pm About the Role We have an exciting opportunity for an Improver to join our Heathrow team. This role is ideal for someone looking to kick-start their career in the escalators industry with a global leader. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, gaining hands-on experience, technical knowledge, and industry qualifications while supporting the maintenance and repair of equipment at one of the UK’s busiest and most dynamic locations.

What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting qualified escalator engineers with the maintenance, servicing, and repair of escalators across Heathrow Assisting with fault finding and troubleshooting to ensure equipment remains safe and reliable Carrying out routine inspections and preventative maintenance under supervision Working in line with KONE safety standards and Heathrow airport procedures Building strong relationships with customers and on-site stakeholders Developing your skills through structured training and on-the-job coaching Accurately recording work using KONE digital tools and systems

What We’re Looking For

A strong interest in engineering and a desire to build a career in the escalator industry Part-qualified (e.g., working towards NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) – preferred Some mechanical/electrical experience or relevant qualification – advantageous A proactive, hands-on approach with willingness to learn Good communication skills and a customer-focused mindset Ability to work effectively in a team within a fast-paced airport environment Full UK driving licence Flexibility to work the 4 on 4 off, 6am–6pm shift pattern and meet airport security requirements
