Responsibilities

Develop and evaluate proof-of-concept solutions involving high-speed communication interfaces, protocols, and system integration between FPGAs, processors, and peripheral devices for test and measurement applications. Design, implement, and validate data transfer architectures for movement of measurement and instrumentation data across embedded systems. Develop FPGA and embedded software components for interface bring-up, protocol validation, and performance optimization.

Perform system integration, debugging, and characterization of hardware and software subsystems. Analyze throughput, latency, resource utilization, and reliability of proposed solutions. Document technical findings, prepare test reports, and present project results to the engineering team.

Qualifications

Student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog (SystemVerilog a plus). Understanding of FPGA architectures, digital design principles, timing analysis, and synthesis/place-and-route flows. Experience with FPGA development tools (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or similar) and simulation/debugging techniques.

Knowledge of communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, USB, and high-speed interfaces (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet, or AXI). Experience or coursework in digital signal processing, data acquisition, and measurement techniques is a plus. Familiarity with embedded systems and interfacing FPGAs with microcontrollers or processors is desirable. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
