Job description

Security Systems Technician (Programmer) Johnson Controls is seeking a Security Systems Technician (Programmer) to provide specialized technical support to Field Technicians by remotely programming communicators and alarm panels using manufacturer software. This role supports accurate account setup, monitoring readiness, and responsive service for customers and field teams.

Role Overview

In this role, you will handle technician requests, complete remote programming and data entry, and help ensure alarm, communicator, and video equipment is configured correctly. Your work will support onboarding requirements, quality control targets, and the accurate placement of accounts into service for monitoring in the CMC.

Key Responsibilities

Take inbound phone calls from technicians requesting assistance with programming customer alarm panels, communicators, or video equipment through remote DLL. Input specific information into new or existing accounts based on technician requests or scope of work. Register communicators and ensure accurate communication between the customer location, JCI receivers, and Mastermind. Complete data entry in programming systems and MM when required.

Research and investigate technical issues, then respond back to the appropriate parties by phone. Ensure MM data and panel programming are accurate and place accounts in service to be monitored in the CMC. Support additional duties as assigned. How You Will Do It Take ownership of accurate outcomes by verifying programming details, account data, and communicator registration before closing out each request. Stay close to the work by listening carefully to Field Technicians, gathering the right information quickly, and removing obstacles that slow down service.

Use research and candor to solve problems by investigating issues in Mastermind, MM, and panel programming until the root cause is identified and resolved. Work as one team by communicating clearly with technicians and other support partners, sharing updates promptly, and building trust through reliable follow-through. Improve every day by paying attention to recurring issues, learning from each request, and supporting consistent quality control results.

Qualifications

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced support environment. Strong customer service, problem-solving, and communication skills. Competency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. Ability to work as business needs dictate and contribute as a team player.

Nice to Have

High school degree or equivalent. Experience with alarm installation, DLL, technical support, or data processing. Ability to perform technical research to resolve complex problems in DMP panels. 1 to 3 years of contact or call center experience. Experience with DMP, Radionics, Focus, SafeWatch, Vista, or DSC panels and their compatible communicators. Why Join Us This is a hands-on support role where accuracy matters and your work directly helps Field Technicians keep customer systems properly programmed and monitored.

You will work with specialized tools and processes in a role that values responsiveness, teamwork, and technical problem-solving. If this sounds like the right fit, we encourage you to apply.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE

$25.68-$36.10 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
