Internship - AI-assisted Test & Measurement Automation

Job description

The student, as part of the Electrical Failure Analysis (EFA) team and under the guidance of an assigned mentor, will undertake projects working on Infineon's flagship TriCore-based Automotive Micro-controllers. Your role Key responsibilities in your new role Bench Measurement Automation: Automate bench measurements using software and AI tools.

Lab Instrument Integration

Work with engineers to connect lab instruments, collect and analyze measurement data, and develop workflows that make testing faster and more repeatable.

Model Evaluation & Validation

Evaluate and validate models and document the result, risk and limitations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive knowledge sharing through documentation and demos.

Internship Learning Outcomes

Team & Domain Context: Understand the set-up of the EFA team in the semiconductor company.

Measurement Fundamentals

Gain hands-on proficiency with bench instruments (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, analyzers, probes) and measurement fundamentals such as accuracy, resolution, calibration, and uncertainty.

Automated Data Acquisition

Build automated data acquisition pipelines — logging, structuring, and storing measurement data.

AI in Measurement Context

Understand the limitations and validation requirements of AI in a measurement context (correlating automated vs. manual results).

Failure Analysis Exposure

Understand the failure analysis / device characterization workflow. Your profile Qualifications and skills to help you succeed Education: E lectrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science.

ML/DL Fundamentals

Solid foundation in machine learning/deep learning fundamentals.

GenAI & Agentic AI Knowledge

Understanding of GenAI/LLMs (prompt engineering, embeddings, RAG) and related tooling; basic agentic AI concepts.

Electronics Background

Understanding of basic circuit components and ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams.
