Job description

Introduction

As an Associate Partner, Banking Industry Operations, you will bring deep, practitioner-level domain expertise across wealth management, asset management, capital markets, commercial lending, risk and regulatory frameworks, and transaction banking to IBM's financial services clients. Having worked inside a bank at the Executive Director level or greater, you understand financial services products and regulations, operational processes, and vendor platforms from the client's side of the table - and you bring that credibility to every client conversation.

You will develop and maintain informed points of view on the trends shaping clients' industries, and use that perspective to advise senior client stakeholders on their transformation agendas. You will help assemble the practice plan, write strategy, and oversee the technology and transformation projects that bring that strategy to life. You will build and lead teams of 20-30, and carry personal accountability for signings, revenue, and utilization targets.

Your role and responsibilities

Apply Deep Banking Domain Expertise

  • Bring practitioner-level knowledge across wealth management, asset management, capital markets, commercial lending, risk and regulatory frameworks, and transaction banking to shape client solutions and engagement approaches.

Bring Client-Side Credibility

  • Draw on experience working inside a bank at the Executive Director level or greater, along with project management expertise, to understand financial services products and regulations, operational processes, and vendor platforms from a practitioner's perspective.

Research and Develop Points of View

  • Research trends shaping clients' industries and develop informed, differentiated points of view that IBM and its clients can act on.

Advise Senior Client Stakeholders

Assemble the Practice Plan

  • Assemble and maintain the practice plan for the Banking Industry Operations area, aligning offerings, talent, and go-to-market focus with client demand and industry direction.

Write Strategy and Oversee Delivery

  • Write strategy for client engagements and oversee the technology and transformation projects that execute against it, ensuring delivery stays aligned to the client's strategic intent.

Build and Lead Teams

  • Build and lead teams of 20-30 professionals, developing talent and ensuring the right mix of domain, technology, and delivery skills is in place to support the practice.

Own Business Outcomes

  • Carry personal accountability for signings, revenue, and utilization targets, actively managing the business of the practice alongside the delivery of client work. Required technical and professional expertise
  • Prior experience working inside a bank at the Executive Director level or greater.
  • Deep domain expertise in one or more of: wealth management, asset management, capital markets, commercial lending, risk and regulatory frameworks, or transaction banking, with working knowledge across the others.
  • Strong project management expertise, with experience overseeing technology and transformation projects from strategy through delivery.

  • Demonstrated ability to research industry trends and translate them into practical, actionable points of view.
  • Experience advising senior stakeholders at clients on transformation agendas, with strong executive presence and communication skills.
  • Experience assembling or contributing to a practice plan, including offering development and go-to-market alignment.
  • Experience writing strategy and translating it into delivery plans that technology and transformation teams can execute.
  • Proven experience building and leading teams of 20-30 professionals.
  • Track record of accountability for signings, revenue, and utilization targets. Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Prior experience in a consulting, advisory, or systems integrator environment serving banking clients.
  • Experience with core banking, lending, or capital markets vendor platforms (e.g., FTM, Temenos, Murex, or similar).

  • Experience operating in a matrixed, multi-geography delivery environment.
  • Advanced degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
