Job description

Excited to grow your career? BBVA is a global company with more than 160 years of history that operates in more than 25 countries where we serve more than 80 million customers. We are more than 121,000 professionals working in multidisciplinary teams with profiles as diverse as financiers, legal experts, data scientists, developers, engineers and designers. The Engineering division is the operational and technological engine of our bank.

We are responsible for building, optimizing, and governing the critical infrastructure that powers our global financial operations. Sitting at the intersection of technology and business strategy, our team drives robust project governance, enhances internal controls, and collaborates across multiple business units to enable sustainable business growth.

About the job

Are you looking to kickstart your career in banking and gain a unique, cross-functional view of how a global financial institution operates? Join our Engineering team. We are expanding our presence in the region to support business growth, strengthen project governance, and enhance our internal controls. Although this internship sits within the Engineering division, we are specifically looking for a Business Administration profile—no technical or engineering studies required.

You will support the team across projects, processes, and control activities, gaining broad exposure to multiple business units and an excellent entry point into the banking industry.

What You Will Do

Project Coordination & Governance: Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of complex multi-stakeholder projects across technical functions, ensuring project deadlines and governance standards are maintained.

Process & Internal Controls Support

Support the team in monitoring and reviewing internal control activities, identifying operational efficiency bottlenecks, and helping optimize daily workflows.

KPI Tracking & Executive Reporting

Gather operational data, track key metrics, and prepare clear, high-impact PowerPoint presentations and Excel reports for senior stakeholders.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Partner with stakeholders across various business units, acting as an effective liaison to align technical operations with organizational goals.

What We Are Looking For

Education: Current student or recent graduate (Bachelor's or Master's) in Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, or a related commercial field. A strong interest in understanding how engineering and operations function within a global banking environment is essential. No engineering background required.

Languages

Fluent English (C2) is mandatory. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Italian is highly valued.

Key Competencies

Exceptional organizational, structured thinking, and workload management skills. High attention to detail, proactive mindset, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder coordination skills.

PDF Tech Savvy

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, KPI tracking, performance reporting) and PowerPoint (executive decks, project updates). What You Will Gain Global Banking & Operational Insights: Build a practical understanding of how project governance, internal controls, and engineering infrastructure support a major global financial organization.

Hands-On Governance & Project Experience

Direct involvement in multi-stakeholder project coordination, process improvement, and executive decision-support reporting.

Professional Growth & Networking

Broad exposure across multiple business units, collaborating with senior leadership in a fast-paced, international environment. ⚠️ Important Requirements Availability: Full-time internship position (6 to 12 months duration).

Location

London Right to Work: Applicants must possess a valid Right to Work (RTW) in the UK. Proof of eligibility will be required during the recruitment process.
