As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. Search Serving Infrastructure (SSI) provides the framework for the sustainable, performant, and reliable execution of Search products and features at scale.

In close collaboration with DeepMind, Search is evolving at a rapid pace, with the platform being reimagined for Artificial Intelligence (AI)-first experiences like AI Overviews (AIO) and AI Mode (AIM). While we continue to optimize the classic Search Results Page (SRP), our primary focus for 2026 is supercharging rapidly-growing AI experiences. We are set to dramatically speed up products like AIM and AIO through full-stack optimizations, ranging from low-level thread scheduling to User Interface (UI) rendering performance.In Google Search, we're reimagining what it means to search for information – any way and anywhere.
