Under the leadership of senior team members, you will own the development process for each product from sketch to approval. You will design and manage product for the Kids Decorative Accessories categories, including, toys, mobiles, plushies, seasonal decor, storage and organization, wall art, mirrors and functional accessories. You will support the buying group’s design and development needs., identify key trends, build seasonal concepts, lead design presentations to senior management and ensure all product development deadlines and key calendar dates are met. ### Responsibilities Through clear understanding of design vision and business objectives, guide the design and development process from initial concept through approval. ### This means Gather relevant inspiration reference based on design direction. Research market for new product ideas and competitive set. Create design renders, orthographic specs and comment forms that are clear and concise for overseas vendors. Lead design presentations. Assist with setup and styling of seasonal product presentations Manage decision making daily for functional categories. Correspond with product development internal teams and overseas vendors to develop products Drive workflow to the calendar to ensure all deadlines and key dates are met. Recommend effective processes and procedures to improve workflow and results. Travel as needed to factories and buying shows domestically and internationally when WSI and governmental agencies deem is safe to do so. Reports to West Elm Kids Senior Designer You… Are passionate about design, style, and decorating. Have exceptional organizational and communication skills Have an understanding of Kids related products and design considerations. Love to work collaboratively in a group and have an innate willingness to dig in and contribute with your team. Are a true business owner; comfortable with decision making and calculated risk-taking for the benefit of your business. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for hard and soft goods. Are driven and motivated by the possibilities ahead. Think innovation is critical in a business environment and support others in creative thinking. Pride yourself on the quality of work and are a stickler for the details. Naturally challenge yourself and others to grow. Criteria Minimum 3 years professional experience in related field required. Degree in design or equivalent experience. Experience with drafting and ability to quickly review and comment on drawings. ### Proficiency in of 3D modeling software SolidWorks/ Rhino and Keyshot Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Outlook are essential. ### Experience with project management tools is a plus Airtable, PLM, etc. This role requires being onsite in the Dumbo Brooklyn office #LI-LG1 Our Culture & Values We believe that taking care of our people is vital to our success and we strive to offer equitable and transparent practices for all. This role is not eligible for relocation assistance. The expected starting pay range for this position is $85,000 - $100,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
