This role involves diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Technician collaborates with management and team members to deliver efficient service, leads and mentors less-experienced staff, and manages service calls using digital tools. Adherence to company policies and standards is essential to support operational excellence and customer satisfaction. ### About the team The Facility Services HVAC/Refrigeration team is dedicated to maintaining essential systems through collaboration and ongoing skill development. Team members partner with experienced technicians to enhance expertise in HVAC/R maintenance, repairs, and safety compliance. The team emphasizes integrity, respect, and clear communication, efficiently managing operational tasks while supporting knowledge sharing. This cooperative environment encourages professional growth and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and customer service within Walmart’s facilities, ensuring reliable and effective maintenance aligned with company standards. ### What you'll do Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork and control panels, ensuring compliance with building codes and operational standards. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues across commercial and industrial equipment. Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration units, walk-ins, and HVAC systems to maximize equipment longevity and minimize downtime. Conduct inspections and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R regulations, including refrigerant handling and documentation. Lead and mentor field teams, promoting safety practices and technical proficiency. Manage service calls, coordinate with external providers, and maintain accurate records and reports. Operate company vehicles safely to support service operations within assigned regions. ### What you'll bring Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings. Ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and building codes to ensure accurate system configuration. Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and implementing effective solutions. Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols. Skilled in preventive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Strong communication skills to explain technical information clearly to customers and team members. Capability to lead and mentor technicians while adhering to safety and compliance requirements. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles safely. The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met. ## Qualifications ### Option 1 Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls. ### Option 2 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field. Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling. Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman. Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report. - Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years. Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years. No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
