## Job description

### Job Summary

Diesel Apprentice is responsible for service, repair, adjust, and test all mobile equipment operating throughout the plant to maximize performance and limit downtime. Inspect all mobile equipment to identify and troubleshoot the cause of errors. Perform repairs to address problems when necessary. Safely handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and industrial hand tools throughout the shop and plant. Ensure that correct and accurate documentation regarding all mobile equipment is completed daily and monthly.

Enter and maintain service reports for all the mobile equipment in written or electronic form.

### Essential Functions
- Assist with service, repair, adjust, and test all mobile equipment operating throughout the plant to maximize performance and limit downtime.
- Assist with maintaining service reports for all mobile equipment.
- Assist with performing physical activities to perform repair or maintenance.
- Handle, install, position and move parts, materials and industrial hand tools in a safe manner throughout the shop and facility.
- Inspect all mobile equipment to identify and troubleshoot the cause of errors. Perform repairs to address problems when necessary.
- Ensure that correct and accurate documentation regarding all mobile equipment is completed daily and monthly. Enter and maintain service reports for all the mobile equipment in written or electronic form.

- Technical Expertise -Solid mechanical understanding of mobile equipment, including basic maintenance checks and troubleshooting minor issues. Ability to identify signs of equipment malfunction, understand and report them to the maintenance team.

## Responsibilities

### Education
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Additional vocational/trade school training in a mechanical field is also preferred (not required).

### Experience
- Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred.
- Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
- Mechanical Skills.

### Other Requirements
- Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
- Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
- Must have knowledge of industrial tools, their uses and maintenance.
- Travel will be required overnight as business demands.
- Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others throughout the operation at all times.
