Get all the details here. CDL A Backhaul Driver ### Position Overview For those who thrive on the open road and live for the journey, this is the job for you. You're not just driving a truck; we deliver trust, reliability, and a promise of excellence. This is a fast-paced position with deadlines. This CDL A Backhaul Driver goes beyond simply transporting goods - it’s about perfecting the craft of delivery, earning trust mile by mile, and serving as a vital link to our customers. ### Key Responsibilities Safe Driving: Skillfully drive your truck to vendors and designated drop-off sites, ensuring timely and efficient delivery. ### Inspect and Confirm Verify the freight on the truck, check the trailer temperatures, and ensure accuracy with vendors - every detail matters. ### Finish Strong Return the tractor and trailer to the division once the route is completed. ### Equipment Inspection Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections, ensuring everything is in top condition for the road ahead. ### Adaptability All other duties assigned by management. Physical Requirements Lift/carry/push/pull/lower 20 to 80+ lbs. of product repetitively during each shift required. Driving & working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops (10+ per shift) required. Comfortable working in a multi-temperature environment as low as 0 degrees. Continuously grasp objects & manipulate objects. Frequently sit, stand, walk, drive, climb/balance, stoop/squat, kneel/bend, bend, reach above shoulder, twist, and use manual dexterity. Must be able to perform coupling procedures for the Tractor/Trailer. ### Qualifications Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse* Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications. Minimum of six months commercial driving experience or three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry required. Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations. Willingness to travel 2-3 times per week is required. Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records. ### About US FOODS® Click here to learn more! - Registering to the FMCSA Clearinghouse is a requirement by the Department of Transportation. All Drivers are required to visit the Clearinghouse website and register to the new database. The Clearinghouse is a secure online database that provides real-time information about commercial driver’s license (CDL) and commercial learner’s permit (CLP) holders’ drug and alcohol program violations. If you have not registered to the FMCSA database, please note registration is required. Please visit FMCSA Clearinghouse and click GO to login. If you are able to login, but are having trouble with the Clearinghouse registration, see “Clearinghouse Help” field on the clearinghouse page. Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected starting base rate for this role is $29.97 per hour. As applicable, this role may also receive Select as appropriate: overtime compensation, retention bonus, component pay (i.e., based on cases, mileage, stops).
