Hartgrove Behavioral Hospital is looking for a dynamic Licensed Practical Nurses to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. ### Shifts available PM (3pm - 11:30pm) and Nights (11pm - 7:30am) The Licensed Practical Nurse is accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and is responsible for promoting and enhancing nursing practice on the unit, including the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, and activities of daily living. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides nursing care on a designated unit in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Hartgrove Behavioral Hospital. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including children, adolescents and adults. ### Education Graduate of a licensed practical nursing program. ### Experience One-year prior experience in inpatient psychiatric mental health nursing preferred. ### Licensure/Certification Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Illinois. BLS Provider certification through the American Heart Association. ### Knowledge Prefer knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management and CPR training. ### Supervision Received Charge Nurse, Head Nurse, Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor and Asst. Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing Supervision Exercised: None Line of Promotion: From this position: None To this position: Entry Level Environmental Conditions: Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment. ### Physical Requirements Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients with crisis prevention interventions. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping.
