This role will participant all aspect of design work from early architecture to final product assessment. As optics is linked to a variety of physical phenomena such as mechanics, fluid dynamics or thermals, the engineer will need to understand various aspects of the product design and think at the system level. The engineer will provide actionable feedback and design guidelines to the team members. Lab work is a component of the position especially for the characterization of lenses and coatings. This role involves collaboration with designers, engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams and requires the ability to distill highly technical information and effectively communicate with other teams and management. ### Essential qualifications - Good knowledge of physics and mathematics - Experience in lens design and straylight optimization independently - Be familiar with camera lens and module manufacturing process and metrology methods - Experience with diffractive optics system design - Excellent communication skills and ability to work with suppliers and cross function teams to solve technical problems - Experience with numerical simulations and computer programming - Demonstrate a creative approach critical thinking - Be motivated by our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy and understand how their work contributes to that goal Additional skills we are looking for: - Experience with physically based optical software such as Zemax, CodeV, ASAP, Lighttools, SPEOS, Ocean or similar - Experience with CAD, mechanical engineering and finite element analysis. - Coding skills with an object-oriented programming language such as Python, C++, Java… preferr to having internship duration of more than five months Our Team We believe a diverse team of motivated individuals can accomplish almost anything. ### Our team's core values mindset: our team values positivity, passion, and resilience. we like to explore, believe in pushing boundaries, and aren't afraid to fail. initiative: our team does. when we see a problem or a challenge, we get our hands dirty to find a solution with minimal direction. collaboration: teams work best when we share information, recognize each other's contributions, celebrate differences, and can both teach and learn from each other. open communication and organization are key. humility: in our team, the smartest person in the room changes when the topic changes. we know when to ask for help, and we can change our minds if we get new information. cognitive ability: we value critical thinking, creativity, and curiosity. we encourage challenging the status quo and envisioning multiple paths forward. technical ability: we take a "T" approach - each person should have a broad range of skills and knowledge but go deep in one area. we should all be experts in something.
