The NE II is assigned to work under the supervision of a registered nurse who delegates tasks based upon patient needs and NE II skills and abilities. The NE II will report all deviations from expected patient parameters to the registered nurse. It is recognized that specific patient care tasks may vary widely in type and frequency from unit to unit or across service lines, based on the nature of the patient population being served. The Nurse Extern II will be assigned to an experienced RN each shift and will assist with providing patient care such as ADLS, vitals, ambulation and other duties within the scope of patient care tech or equivalent. The assigned RN instructs and mentors the Nurse Extern II in the assigned clinical area and provides feedback on an ongoing basis. ### Minimum Qualifications Applicants can apply starting 6 months before graduation from an accredited school of nursing and must pass all senior courses to remain in the program. ### Facility Description DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is DMC’s largest hospital, offering a comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services. Sinai-Grace’s joint replacement program features a revolutionary minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts patients from all over the country.
