## Job description

CAREER OPPORTUNITY. Santam Specialist Solutions has a career opportunity for a Manager: Claims (SCE) in the Construction and Engineering (SCE) business area which will be based in Wanderers Office Park, Illovo.

### Primary purpose of the role

The Manager: Claims (SCE) role is to oversee and support the claims team through technical guidance and leadership; manage complex and high-value claims; and maintain efficiency and effectiveness by driving performance and process improvements.

### KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage, mentor, instruct and direct employees regarding proper claims handling and processing
- Manage all complex and high quantum claims
- Train new employees
- Monitor team member’s performance
- Ensure that all staff are up to date with product knowledge, systems use, and related legislation application, through formalized training and development, within prescribed timelines and standards
- Ensure claim assessment within the parameters of the wordings
- Correspondence with brokers, service providers etc.
- Provide input on the review of claim processes
- Authorise assignments for the claims team up to delegated authority
- Prepare matters for presentation at Claims Committee
- Authorise payments

### Management of department in absence of the Head
- Claims (SCE)

### QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Matric / Grade 12
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance, Engineering, Law, Risk Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years claims experience within Construction & Engineering sector
- RE5 and FAIS compliance preferable
- Minimum of 3 years managing a claims team
- People management and development experience

### Computer Literacy
- Microsoft Office - proficiency in Word, Excel PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook TECHNICAL COMPETENCY
- Construction & Engineering claims expertise.
- Policy interpretation and coverage analysis.
- Reinsurance knowledge.
- Attention to detail/accuracy

### ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
