[Apply on PepsiCo’s careers site →](https://globalcareers-pepsico.icims.com/jobs/479389/login) [OpenNash Jobs](https://jobs.opennash.com/) / [PepsiCo](https://jobs.opennash.com/companies/pepsico/) / HSE Coordinator ## Job description ### Overview Improve the EHS of employees by facilitating, monitoring, and ensuring the actual implementation of the EHS Management System on the shop floor and provide the guidance where needed. ### Responsibilities Assist the EHS Manager in the implementation, development and monitoring of the EHS policies and procedures to achieve objectives, targets and maintain compliance to GEHSMS. Verify compliance by updating any applicable legal requirements. Provide EHS advice/guidance/coaching to the plant team using different approaches (direct and support them to implement and comply with all EHS requirements in a sustainable manner. Ensure implementation of ISO management systems and give support to all functions. Conduct regular checks and inspections and prepare related reports. Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information on leading and lagging indicators to management. Initiate, provide and/or facilitate regular training based on the training need. Consult with medical department regarding any injured employee(s) & managing their to return to work. Conducts behavioral safety observations and provide support to develop site BS program. Monitor compliance on the shop floor in general (PPEs, KSBs, and SWPs…etc.) and ensure addressing the immediate required actions to correct situation and escalate where needed. Identify adequate corrective/preventive actions to prevent recurrence. Ensure incidents are properly & timely reported according to PEPSICO standard. Build strong EHS capabilities across plant. Assess capability, identify gap & execute training & development programs. Coach, motivate & recognize individuals & teams for EHS contributions. Conduct premises walk abouts to ensure all works (non-routine, critical, 3rd party…etc.) are done under the appropriate and compliant permit to work. Coordinate and assist EHS committee and safety teams. Check and update all EHS communication means (monitors, NM boards, signs, boards…etc.) and report/fix any incorrect situation (damage, outdate, missing form…etc.). Ensure readiness of all EHS systems (Alarm and firefighting and fire suppression systems, emergency lights, CCTV…etc.) and take immediate necessary actions in case of any partial or full impairment or malfunctions. Advice and follow waste management practices. Review energy and water usage reports and participate in improvement action tracking. Establish and coordinate fire team in plant. Active participation in the risk assessments, accident investigations, communication, planning, Reward and Recognition (R&R), Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP), monitoring, inspections and audits and enforce preventive measures. Recognize and embrace positive behaviors and practices. Active participation in developing, maintain, reviewing and continual improvement of EHS systems and producers (SSOW, SWPs, SOPs…etc.) and follow pending actions. Any Emerging situations and other actions or responsibilities assigned by the direct manager that is in line and supports the job main purpose. Establish & maintain an EHS Compliance Calendar; for tracking goals & metrics, conducting EHS monitoring & reporting, & tracking legislation & permit requirements. ### Qualifications 3+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) experience in a similar industry is required. Experience in F&B manufacturing environment is preferred. Functional EHS knowledge in local & international regulatory requirements, EHS technical aspects (technical/process safety, environment, etc.), risk management, budgeting, training, auditing / program review, vendor / consultant management, business knowledge required. Bachelor of Science / Engineering is preferred. Strong people management skills. Problem solving and strong analytical thinking (root-cause analysis, setting action plans…etc.). Excellent communication and presenting skills and the ability to engage with and influence the behaviours of others internally and externally without direct reporting relationship. Recognised EHS qualification; preferably NEBOSH IGC and Environmental Management in addition to Ministry requirements. Excellent command of both Amharic and English languages and literacy in computer usage.
