As an FX & Rates Strategy Intern, you'll gain firsthand exposure to the world of foreign exchange, interest rates, and precious metals research within Global Markets. You'll work alongside experienced strategists, develop practical market analysis skills, and contribute to research that supports investment decisions, client engagement, and market positioning across the bank. How You Succeed To excel in this role, you'll need to be intellectually curious, analytical, and passionate about global markets. You'll work closely with the FX & Rates Strategy team to analyse macroeconomic developments, monitor market trends, and support the production of research views and market insights. Your ability to interpret economic and market data, think critically about emerging themes, and communicate findings effectively will help you contribute meaningfully to the team's research efforts. What You Do Your responsibilities will include: Market Research & Analysis: analyse economic indicators, market developments, and central bank policies to identify trends and opportunities across foreign exchange, interest rates, and precious metals markets Data Collection & Management: gather, compile, and maintain data from market platforms, central bank publications, and third-party databases to support research activities Financial Modelling: maintain and update FX, rates, and macroeconomic models used in research and market analysis Strategy Development Support: assist strategists in refining existing analytical frameworks and developing new models and tools to support market views Thematic Research: contribute to thematic projects covering macroeconomic trends, monetary policy developments, geopolitical events, and their impact on financial markets Market Monitoring: track global market movements, economic releases, and policy announcements, and provide timely updates to the team Research Publications: assist in preparing research reports, market commentaries, presentations, and other publications for internal and external stakeholders Stakeholder Collaboration: work closely with strategists, traders, sales teams, and other stakeholders across Global Markets to support research initiatives and information sharing Ad-hoc Projects: provide support on special research assignments and strategic initiatives as required Who You Work With Global Markets Research provides market insights and strategic perspectives that support clients, traders, sales teams, and senior management in navigating evolving market conditions. Within the FX & Rates Strategy team, you'll work alongside experienced strategists who analyse global economic developments, central bank policies, and market trends across foreign exchange, rates, and precious metals markets. You'll also gain exposure to other functions across the Global Markets business, providing a well-rounded understanding of financial markets and banking. ### Who You Are Open to learning and feedback - Strong interest in foreign exchange, interest rates, precious metals, and global financial markets Baseline familiarity with FX and interest rate market concepts Curious, analytical, and eager to understand the interaction between macroeconomics and financial markets Forward-looking mindset with an interest in emerging macroeconomic themes and industry developments - Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills Meticulous with a keen attention to detail - Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly ### Excel and PowerPoint - Familiarity with Bloomberg Terminal would be advantageous Currently pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree Learning Objectives This internship will provide you with: Exposure to FX, interest rate, and precious metals research within a leading financial institution Hands-on experience analysing macroeconomic developments, monetary policy trends, and their impact on financial markets Opportunities to develop financial modelling and market analysis capabilities Exposure to the research process, from data gathering and analysis to publication and market communication Experience using professional financial market platforms and databases, including Bloomberg and other research tools Opportunities to strengthen analytical thinking and build market views across currencies, rates, and macroeconomic themes Exposure to collaboration with traders, sales teams, and other market professionals across the trading floor Opportunities to develop professional communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills A deeper understanding of how research and strategy teams support investment decisions, client engagement, and market positioning within Global Markets Practical experience comparable to an entry-level research analyst role, providing a strong foundation for future opportunities in markets, research, investment management, and financial services careers What we offer: Competitive base salary.
