M&T Bank is hiring a Financial Advisor to grow and manage a book of business across the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia market. This role offers access to a well-established referral network through Retail, Business Banking, and Wealth partners, providing a steady flow of opportunities so you can focus on building relationships, deepening client connections, and delivering personalized financial solutions. ### What You'll Do - Build and grow a book of business through referrals, proactive business development, and partnerships with retail branch teams throughout the DC and Northern Virginia market - Deliver personalized investment and insurance solutions tailored to client goals and financial objectives - Partner with branch, business banking, and wealth professionals to identify and develop new client opportunities - Conduct portfolio reviews and provide strategic recommendations to help clients grow, preserve, and transfer wealth - Manage the full client relationship lifecycle, from initial discovery through ongoing advice and service What You Bring: 2+ years of sales, business development, relationship management, retail banking, financial services, or client-facing experience - Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and develop new business opportunities - Strong prospecting, networking, and relationship-building skills - Ability to work independently while leveraging internal partnerships and referral sources Passion for helping clients achieve their financial goals through personalized advice and solutions ### Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years' sales, sales administration, financial services, and/or retail banking experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years' sales, sales administration, financial services, and/or retail banking experience Licenses Required: Series 7, 63, and 65 or 66 Life/Variable Insurance license Why Join M&T: Established referral network across one of the region's most affluent and growth-oriented markets Access to a comprehensive suite of investment and insurance solutions Strong partnership culture across Retail, Business Banking, and Wealth Management Opportunity to build a scalable, long-term practice while making a meaningful impact on clients' financial futures Backing of a respected regional bank with a relationship-focused approach to client service M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees.
