This is a pivotal role where you will go beyond compliance—acting as the architect of a “Zero Defect” culture, embedding quality at every stage of the production lifecycle, from supplier intake through to final customer delivery. You will lead a dedicated quality team while working cross-functionally with production, engineering, and supply chain to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction. You'll be joining our X-ray Division based in Royston, where we focus on designing and building advanced X-ray inspection systems used in food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries to help detect contaminants and ensure product quality. ### What You'll Do Manage, develop, and inspire a team of Quality Technicians and a Quality Specialist. Act as a primary driver for improvement, evolving the company culture from "compliance-focused" to a "Zero Defect" mindset. Assist in the cultural deployment of the SQDCP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People) process to ensure quality is a pillar of daily operational performance. Proactively challenge existing quality controls to improve their effectiveness and the robustness of their deployment. Work alongside operations staff to establish rigorous procedures, standards, and systems of work. Ensure all machines and sub-modules consistently meet defined quality standards before and during production. Lead the organisation in tracking internal Quality issues, ensuring exemplary and timely documentation via SAP Quality Notifications. Identify process improvements and implement preventive actions to mitigate risks before they impact the customer. Provide high-level reports articulating trends, performance levels, and the progress of strategic quality initiatives. ### What You Need to Succeed - Proven experience in Quality Management with a strong track record of managing direct reports in a manufacturing environment Experience with SAP/SharePoint/Data analysis would be advantageous Expert knowledge of 3rd party audit requirements (e.g., ISO 9001/14001) and internal audit techniques (Blitz/Tear Down) Understanding of formal problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) and Lean methodologies - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at all levels Our Offer to You Comprehensive benefits – including annual bonus scheme, 25 days annual leave + bank holidays Strong Work-Life Balance – enhanced policies, focus on employee wellbeing, employee engagement events, early finish on Fridays Global Exposure – work with international stakeholders and teams across METTLER TOLEDO's global network Inclusive Culture – thrive in an environment that values authenticity, diversity, and inclusion.
