The Opportunity The Lawyer is responsible for providing comprehensive legal support, legal risk mitigation, and solution-oriented legal advice to MetLife operations in the Czech Republic. This role enables the business to operate confidently in a highly regulated environment by delivering practical legal guidance, supporting compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and protecting the company’s interests. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a wide range of legal disciplines, advise business leaders on complex regulatory and commercial matters, contribute to strategic initiatives, and play a key role in shaping practical legal solutions within an international financial services organization. This is a one‑year fixed‑term position. ### Key Responsibilities Provide legal advice and comprehensive legal support to MetLife entities in the Czech Republic. Manage litigation matters, financial arbiter cases, ADR proceedings, criminal proceedings, and support complaint handling. Review and negotiate contracts, policy documentation, internal policies, and other legal documentation to ensure compliance and risk mitigation. Partner with business, HR, and functional teams on regulatory, employment, commercial, and corporate legal matters. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and support implementation of legal and regulatory changes across the organization. ### Required Qualifications Master's degree in Law obtained in the Czech Republic. Minimum 2 years of experience in an in-house legal role and/or law firm environment. Advanced English proficiency (C1/C2) with the ability to work effectively in an international environment. Demonstrated experience advising on commercial, corporate, regulatory, customer protection, and litigation matters. Strong professional judgment, integrity, accountability, and ability to leverage approved AI tools responsibly to improve efficiency while critically evaluating AI-generated outputs. Ability to select and use appropriate AI tools across tasks, evaluate outputs for reliability and risk, and adapt approaches based on complexity and sensitivity. ### Preferred Qualifications Strong legal analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Previous experience within the insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industry. The expected salary range for this position is 731300 - 840 000 CZK annually. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation.
