Title and Summary Senior Software Engineer - Java/Spring Overview Our team’s mission is to make payments easy, fast and as secure as possible. That’s why we’ve developed technology that enables mobile payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Garmin Pay, etc.) and secure, tokenized remote commerce payments. We call the set of services delivering this "MDES”. We’ve experienced incredible success and growth, with 10s of billions of transactions being processed each year, however now we are focusing on ensuring the success continues as we scale MDES even further. Our focus is on the best possible customer experience. We’re making our services faster, more reliable and more scalable whilst meeting emerging on-soil regulation and increasing demand across the globe. Right now, our applications are deployed into our on-premises infrastructure, but to meet these challenging goals we need them to be deployable into the public cloud. That’s where you come in. We are searching for new team members with first-hand experience of developing and deploying secure, performant, reliable, resilient, distributed applications both in private and public cloud platforms. You will have the boundless energy, enthusiasm and drive to deliver the next phase of this mission-critical transformation. Role As a Senior Software Development Engineer you will: - Work within a collaborative team of product managers and software engineers; - Develop microservices-based solutions, focused on achieving positive customer outcomes, customer journeys and customer experience; - Take true ownership and responsibility for the software that you develop, its maintenance characteristics and champion our adoption of technology standards and opinionated frameworks. All ### About You Essential knowledge, skills & attributes You should apply if: - You’re excited to build applications that have global impact and are used daily by 100s of millions of people. - You have worked on server-side, backend applications and technologies; - You have experience developing using Java – Java is the main language we use at Mastercard; - You’ve used the Spring Framework (or similar) – it’s what we use to create our cloud-ready applications; - You’ve built Event Driven applications; Additional/Desirable capabilities It would also be great if: - You’ve leveraged AI as a development companion to build applications.; - You have first-hand knowledge of a wide range of technologies – databases, messaging, caches, API gateways, networking, pipelines – such as Jenkins, Splunk, Oracle, Apache Kafka, Redis or others ### Our teams and values We work within small collaborative teams consisting of software engineers and product managers; Our customer’s success is at the core of what we do; We are diverse and inclusive teams from many backgrounds and with many experiences; We believe in doing well by doing good through inclusive growth and making ethical and environmentally responsible decisions.
