## Job description

### About the role

Join the Safety Department at L'Oréal R&I China, where you will substantiate the safety of our cosmetic products and ingredients for consumers across Asia-Pacific. You will combine toxicological risk assessment, animal-free safety science, and regional regulatory expertise to clear innovative products for market — on time and with defensible science.

### Duties and responsibilities

Conduct and document quantitative safety evaluations of cosmetic formulations and raw materials. Review and integrate safety data from in vitro assays, non-clinical and clinical studies, literature, and supplier dossiers and summarize findings into clear, decision-ready safety positions. Author, review and maintain the safety evaluation dossiers for product registration and notification across the world, with a focus on China CSAR, and alignment with EU regulatory technical guidances and other regulation requirements from different regions.

Build close working partnerships across the Worldwide Safety Department, contributing to global discussions on specific safety topics and key projects. Translate global safety positions into regional practice to guarantee worldwide consistency. Understand the key formulation technologies of the métiers in your domain and ensure timely reporting of key activities, progress and anticipated obstacles. Contribute scientific expertise to innovation projects from early screening through product launch.

Apply New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) and Next-Generation Risk Assessment (NGRA) to strengthen safety substantiation without animal testing. Continuously sharpen the scientific judgement behind key decision points, and optimize cross-functional communication with R&D, Regulatory, Quality and Brand partners for simplicity and efficiency.

### Qualifications

Ph.D./MS in toxicology, medical sciences, bioinformatics, or other related disciplines. 2- 3 years’ experience in toxicology related area is preferred. Ability to apply non-clinical and clinical scientific principles, concepts and techniques to evaluate the safety of products and ingredients, and to review and summarize safety data from multiple sources. Hands-on experience with New Approach Methodologies is a plus. Relevant areas include omics, organoid and organ-on-a-chip models, computational modelling/QSAR, and read-across justification.

Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork spirit, with the proven ability to work effectively in a matrix-type organization. Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Chinese and English.
