You will collaborate with design and project engineers, operate advanced optical manufacturing equipment, and ensure the highest standards of quality. If you have the skills and passion for precision optics, apply now to join us and contribute to groundbreaking projects in a dynamic and innovative environment. ### This position is located in New York L3Harris in New York Essential Functions: Set up, operate, and maintain 3 & 5-axis CNC machines to produce complex precision parts to exacting tolerances. Strong understanding of CNC programming (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar CAM software. Setup and operate multiple waterjet machines Interpret engineering drawings, and CAD/CAM models to ensure proper machining strategies and dimensions. Perform machine setup, including tool selection, fixture mounting, and program verification. Inspect parts using precision measurement tools (e.g. micrometers, calipers, etc.) to verify conformance to specifications. Troubleshoot and adjust machine processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow established safety protocols and standard operating procedures. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues and improve machining processes. Document job setups and recommend process improvements to reduce setup time and increase repeatability. Participate in large optics moves as part of a move crew. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Own area equipment Total Productive Maintenance guidelines for manufacturing equipment and ensure calibration status is current. ### Qualifications Requires fully proficient job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. ### Preferred Additional Skills Familiarity with fixturing glass optical components and irregular parts. Understanding and application of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) Experience grinding glass/brittle materials (wheel selection, dressing, coolant strategy, minimizing damage/edge failure).
