You will work across software, firmware, FPGA development, embedded systems, control electronics, and system integration to support the design of logic units and embedded software for next-generation quantum computing systems. Your role and responsibilities - Develop, implement, and debug FPGA logic for quantum control and measurement systems. - Integrate FPGA, embedded software, and hardware components into larger quantum systems. - Develop software and automation tools for data collection, analysis, and lab instrumentation control. Debug embedded systems, ASICs, and low-level hardware/software interactions. - Support qubit experiments, calibration routines, and system performance evaluations. - Collaborate with physics, theory, hardware, PCB, ASIC, and deployment teams. Required technical and professional expertise - Pursuing a Masters/or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field. - Experience with Python, Jupyter Notebooks, Git, Linux, and command-line environments. - Experience designing or implementing digital logic on FPGAs. - Familiarity with HDL development (Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL). - Experience with embedded systems and laboratory equipment. - Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills. - Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work across disciplines. Preferred technical and professional experience - Experience with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus. - Experience with microcontrollers and low-level programming. - Familiarity with oscilloscopes, VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and related test equipment. - Experience with Python-based test automation and instrumentation control (SCPI). ### Experience in one or more of the following - FPGA architecture and digital design - System integration - PCB design and schematic review - Signal processing and digital filtering - Cryogenic test environments - Cadence or Vivado - Quantum computing concepts and qubit characterization IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
