The Activism and Shareholder Advisory (“ASA”) team within M&A is responsible for helping clients stay ahead of and respond to challenges from shareholder activists and hostile raiders, and is a key subject matter expert on activism, hostile / contested M&A, shareholder engagement and corporate governance. In this capacity, ASA develops and maintains Goldman Sachs’ thought leadership on each of these topics, particularly in the context of live defenses for Goldman Sachs’ corporate clients. The ASA team partners closely with our industry groups (“Classic”) and product coverage teams to provide strategic advice to our clients on their potential vulnerability to activism or an unsolicited approach, corporate governance issues, live activism defense or hostile / contested M&A situations. Goldman Sachs’ Activism and Shareholder Advisory Team has been ranked #1 in Bloomberg League Tables for over a decade, which gives candidates the unique experience of working on some of the most important and high-profile defense situations and transactions in the industry. ### Selected Key Practice Areas and Responsibilities Developing tailored analysis alongside Classic teams and furthering client dialogue Working on live activism, raid defense and contested M&A situations as part of the broader GS Investment Banking team Conducting market research and surveillance on relevant activism, shareholder and governance trends Writing thought leadership related to new events and market developments Analyzing key trends in the market Creating quantitative and qualitative analysis regarding activism vulnerability Additional Information: Small, collaborative team, which provides direct exposure to senior bankers on the team and across the firm Associates work across all industries and gain broad exposure to Goldman Sachs client base Core client audience consists of most senior management (C-Suite) and Board of Directors to which the ASA Team has direct exposure and dialogue Involvement in some of the most important and high-profile situations and transactions Location(s) / Office(s): New York Salary Range The expected base salary for this New York, NY, United States-based position is $150000-$225000.
