Impact of the Role General Profile Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines - Solves complex problems - Works independently, receives minimal guidance May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives - Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment ### Essential Functions Outlines and implements policies or programs to educate and promote employee health and safety or environmental compliance. Delivers training programs educating staff on environmental concerns or health and safety risks found in the organization. Communicates regularly with management and administration regarding the status of environmental initiatives. Ensures that training records, health/safety manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation are appropriately maintained. Tracks and documents accidents to understand causes and recommend changes to prevent future accidents. Monitors known health, safety, or environmental hazards, such as noise, air, or wastewater pollution levels. Coordinates inspection of facilities, vehicles, or equipment and processes recommending corrections or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations. Communicates facility-specific emergency response or evacuation plans. Has a broad and current knowledge of all government and applicable industry safety regulations. ### Required Qualifications Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) ### Preferred Qualifications Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree Discipline/Major: Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline preferred Knowledge, skills & abilities: Velocity Software. EHS Software such as: Enablon or Intelex. Experience with Greenhouse Gases and sustainability. Safety best practices. Safety communications. Safety inspections. Safety investigations. Safety policies and procedures. Safety training. Inspection documentation. Physical Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities. Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. ### Travel Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
