Occupational Health & Safety interns are provided with tasks that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating.This is the opportunity to kick start your career and gain EH&S work experience! This program requires a minimum commitment of 8 weeks during the Summer 2027 Season. This is not a remote opportunity. Please note you may be assigned to work at any of the following locations: North Kingstown RI, Groton CT, North Stonington CT, New London, CT, and you will need reliable transportation and housing for the duration of your intern assignment. ### Responsibilities Effective written and verbal communication skills - Ability to effectively work both independently and as part of a team Ability to learn new skills and apply them - Ability to solve problems in a constructive manner - Strong interpersonal skills - Proficient with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Office) ### Qualifications To be qualified for this position: Must be 18 years of age or older. US citizenship is required. Must be able to successfully pass a medically supervised drug screen and background check. Must be enrolled full-time at a college or university At minimum students must have completed their Freshman year prior to the start of the internship. Must be available to work 40 hours per week for a minimum eight (8) consecutive weeks between May 2027 to September 2027. Pursuing the following - Bachelor of Science degrees to include: Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences Occupational Safety and Health Industrial Hygiene Environmental Health and Safety Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences (OEHS) Masters Degrees degrees to include: M.S. Occupational Health Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Industrial Hygiene or Occupational Safety and Health M.S. Occupational Safety Management M.S. Environmental Health and Safety Master of Public Health - Toxicology Preferred: Familiarity with OSHA safety and health standards or environmental regulations. Strong interest in safety and/or industrial hygiene fields, or Strong interest in occupational sciences/engineering and how environmental regulations apply in the shipbuilding environment. Strong interest in a shipyard trade or construction environment.
