Quality Control Lab Technician (QC Lab Tech) ### Rotating Weekend Schedule (3 Week Rotation) M, Tues, 11:30PM-07:30AM, 11:30PM Fri-07:30AM Sat, 07:30PM Sat-07:30AM Sun, 07:30PM Sun-11:30PM Sun Come join our Old Fort, OH facility where we manufacture products such as A&H Baking Soda, A&H Cat Litter, and A&H Unit Dose Detergent! ### ROLE SUMMARY Ensures strict adherence to company and government quality standards by inspecting, testing, observing and reporting the production and packaging of sodium bicarbonate, animal nutrition and consumer products. Testing incoming raw materials, test in-process and finished goods, reviewing production records, and providing analytical support to the Engineering Department for process optimization. ### DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Completes assigned routine analyses, required replicate testing and reporting, without direct supervision - Provides analytical and technical support to ensure personnel safety and proper equipment maintenance - Inspects bagging and packaging lines for product specifications, such as weight, date code, and proper equipment operations - Inspects all phases of plant production operations to ensure overall quality of finished product - Samples and evaluates incoming shipments for specification compliance - Evaluates non-conforming results and initiates re-sampling, retesting, and/or on hold procedures as required - Audits work performed for omissions, deletions, and errors - Records all data obtained, using established formats and notation conventions - Maintains cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and work area - Makes written/verbal releases of tested materials to production or shipping supervision, according to established quality control policies - Compiles summaries of test results for inclusion in regular departmental reporting - Participates in and lends support to the Quality Improvement Process - Familiar with the plant food safety program and basic HACCP principles - Assists with Preventative Maintenance on Lab equipment. - Lift 50 pounds consistently MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND ### EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: - Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills. - Fluent in MS Office Suite - SAP experience preferred. - High school diploma, GED and/or equivalent & 5 years of related experience OR - 2 years of post-secondary education in related discipline & 3 years of related experience OR - 4 years of post-secondary education in related discipline & 1 years of related experience PREFERED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related science field preferred. - Manufacturing Lab Environment Experience preferred. - Hands on Knowledge of GC, ICP, and HPLC equipment preferred. ### JOB TITLE Business Support III, Quality Control TYPICAL WORK CONDITIONS: EXPOSURE TO: Yes No Yes No Moving machinery X Chemical fumes X Hot surface / tools X Heat/Cold X Concrete surface X Slippery surface X Repetitive motion X Chemicals X Noise X Other: Dust particulates X Fork truck batteries X EQUIPMENT USED: Step stool/ladder X Forklift/jack X Power hand tools X Computer X Power Machinery X Box cutter X Respirator X Hearing protection X Steel Toe shoes X Gloves X MAJOR PHYSICAL TASKS: Moving and handling samples Moving samples including up to 40lbs boxes 50 lb bag of sodium bicarb Lifting bags up to 50lbs for testing Walking around the facility Collecting samples from the lines Going up down stairs Going up and down stairs to access the different areas of the facility ACTIVITY FREQUENCY ACTIVITY FREQUENCY Lift/Carry: N O F C Movement: N O F C 10 lbs. or less X Bending X 11 – 20 lbs.
