Drive and maintain the team’s roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities and platform strategy. Collaborate with architects to define system design, API contracts, and service interactions aligned to enterprise standards. Provide hands-on technical leadership through design reviews, troubleshooting, and guidance on complex implementations. Drive sprint planning, backlog refinement, and delivery commitments with a focus on predictability and outcomes.

Identify and close gaps in existing processes, workflows, and delivery models to improve efficiency and reduce friction. Own production stability, including incident management, root cause analysis, and permanent fixes. Work closely with QA to ensure quality is embedded early through test strategy and automation. Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks, and drive mitigation plans. Provide clear and concise communication to stakeholders on delivery status, risks, and trade-offs.

Contribute to a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence across the team.

### What You'll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with proven experience leading teams and owning delivery. Strong experience delivering solutions in microservices architecture, REST APIs, and event-driven systems (Kafka or similar). Hands-on technical expertise (e.g., Java/Spring Boot, databases) with the ability to guide and review engineering work. Experience managing engineering backlogs and roadmaps, balancing business priorities with technical health.

Strong understanding of system design, integrations, and distributed systems. Proven ability to drive end-to-end delivery, not just requirement definition or documentation. Experience improving team efficiency, delivery predictability, and process maturity. Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum practices with a focus on outcome-driven execution rather than ceremonies. Experience working with Product Owners and stakeholders to align on priorities while challenging and refining requirements.

Strong stakeholder management skills across business, operations, and engineering teams. Experience supporting production systems, including incident management, root cause analysis, and operational excellence. Ability to identify and resolve gaps in processes, workflows, and system interactions. Familiarity with tools such as Jira and Confluence for backlog and documentation management. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Exposure to banking/financial systems, billing, or pricing platforms is an asset. Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and automation is a strong plus. Key Expectations from this Role Drive measurable improvements in delivery timelines, backlog health, and operational efficiency. Reduce production defects and operational escalations through better engineering practices.

Establish clear ownership and accountability within the team. Continuously improve processes to remove inefficiencies and enhance team productivity. Ensure alignment between roadmap, backlog, and delivered outcomes. Why This Role Is for You You want to lead a large-scale modernization program that is transforming how payments are executed in Canada. You’re motivated by solving complex, real-world problems in a highly visible and mission-critical environment.

You bring a strong technical mindset, but prefer to lead, guide, and enable teams rather than focus solely on hands-on development. You thrive in environments that require both structure and adaptability, where priorities evolve and thoughtful decision-making is key. You value impact, ownership, and continuous growth, and want to play a key role in shaping the future of payments technology. What's in it for you? You’ll join a team focused on building cloud platforms as products, enabling delivery teams across the enterprise rather than acting as a centralized gatekeeper or operating within a narrow delivery focus.
