Primary Role Indiana American Water is seeking a motivated Sr. Maintenance and Relief Operator to join our team in Muncie, IN. In this role, you will lead day-to-day routine, preventative, and diagnostic maintenance efforts at our surface water treatment plant and remote sites. This role is unique in that you will also be trained as an Operator and will learn how to operate the plant. This includes making process control adjustments, monitoring the treatment process, and performing routine lab testing and compliance reporting. The Maintenance and Relief Operator is responsible for plant maintenance and operations, analyzing water samples and making needed adjustments. #LI-BR1 #LI-Onsite Key Accountabilities Performs sample collection occasionally on a daily basis which include the following: Walks outside in all weather conditions to the basin Must walk up/down flight of stairs Sampling performed from wet lab Analyzes samples occasionally on a daily basis which include the following: Works standing at lab table 36" high Constant standing with occasional walking short distances May have to reach overhead to obtain glassware from shelving (weighs less than 2lb) May have to side bend with trunk flexion and/or squat to obtain items from lower shelving Pours samples into beakers, wrist deviation, shoulder flexion gripping Pours packets into samples and swirls beakers to mix Gripping with wrist deviation Places samples into analyzers and pushes buttons to start This task may require neck flexion, trunk flexion and forward reaching May lift a full water pitcher 10lb to fill equipment once daily Tools used: measuring devices (beakers, test tubes), analyzers, microscope, pipettes Measures the level of chemical bulk tanks which include the following: Climbs ladder on the outside of the tank Readings from level indicators are obtained Neck flexion, forward reaching Tools used: ladder Knowledge/Skills Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to work independently Problem-solving Technologically savvy Other Job Requirements DOT Physical Must be able to obtain and maintain an Indiana WT5 license within 2 years of hire Experience/Education High school diploma or equivalent certificate (GED) required Travel Requirements Local travel within service territory Valid state driver's license Work Schedule Full-time, On-site Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm *Shift/schedule subject to change when operating (12-hour shift, 7am-7pm, 7pm-7am) Competencies Plans & AlignsDecision MakingCommunicates EffectivelyBuilds NetworksAction Oriented
