The Core Selection team in Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) is seeking an innovative software engineer to redefine how Amazon manages inventory selection decisions worldwide. In this role, you'll harness the power of Generative AI to unlock new possibilities in software engineering, collaborating with scientists, economists, business intelligence engineers, and product managers to build solutions that drive financial benefits across teams and organizations. You'll apply your technical depth in distributed systems, work backwards from customer requirements, and leverage advanced technologies to solve complex supply chain challenges. With Amazon's vast and intricate supply chain, even small optimizations create profound impacts on customer experience. This is your opportunity to grow alongside business partners, break through traditional constraints with AI-powered solutions, and deliver scalable systems that shape how millions of customers experience Amazon. ### Key job responsibilities - Design and build large-scale distributed services for inventory selection decisions, writing high-quality code in Java or Scala while applying object-oriented principles and system design patterns - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, economists, and product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions, utilizing Generative AI capabilities to accelerate development and expand engineering possibilities - Own the full software development lifecycle from scoping and design through testing, deployment, and maintenance, actively participating in code reviews and providing meaningful technical feedback to team members - Lead operational excellence initiatives by monitoring system performance, identifying root causes of issues, and implementing permanent solutions that improve reliability and customer experience - Evaluate technical tradeoffs in the problem space, balance short-term needs with long-term architectural goals, and make informed decisions on feature development priorities while building trust with partners through domain expertise ### A day in the life Your day starts with scrum planning where you align with your team on priorities and technical approaches. You'll spend time converting stakeholder requirements into product features, design systems, writing code, and collaborating with economists and data scientists on optimization algorithms. You'll leverage Generative AI tools to accelerate implementation and explore creative solutions. Throughout the day, you participate in design discussions, conduct code reviews, and troubleshoot production systems.
