## Job description

AWS is building data center infrastructure to support our digital way of life, and the public conversation around that growth — power demand, grid reliability, and water use, — is increasingly shaped by regulators, policymakers, elected officials, and community stakeholders. The Energy & Water team is looking for a Senior Manager in Public Affairs, to lead how we engage in that conversation.

In this role you bring a public affairs lens to energy and water: you understand industry trends and the regulatory landscape, you engage with the right internal and external stakeholders, and translate that understanding into the right messaging, You are the expert who shows up, engages authentically with community members, organizations, public officials, builds lasting relationships, and contributes to an informed, transparent, and productive public dialogue.

You will be one of a small cohort of 3–4 regional representatives who collectively own how the Energy & Water team builds public engagement, in coordination with our policy, legal, community, comms, and economic development partners.

Key job responsibilities

### Public Representation

Represent Energy & Water in public and community settings — open houses, boot camps, hearings, and stakeholder forums— building trusted relationships with officials, regulators, and community stakeholders.

Engage with regulatory bodies, agency staff, elected officials, and policy stakeholders alongside our Public Policy and Legal teams, representing the Energy & Water perspective accurately and with sound judgment.

Field live questions about energy sourcing, power demand, grid impact, water use, wastewater — including detailed questions from engaged community members and advocacy groups

Engage authentically on energy and water topics in real time — accurately representing Amazon's approach and genuinely addressing community questions

### Energy and Water Messaging and Content Ownership

In this role you bring a public affairs lens to energy and water: you understand industry and energy-sector trends and the regulatory landscape, you engage credibly with regulatory bodies and policy audiences, and you translate that understanding into the right messaging, delivered in the right tone, to the right stakeholders.

Develop and maintain talking points, FAQs, and Q&A guidance on energy and water topics for use by the broader team, Comms, and cross-functional partners

Provide the energy and water subject matter foundation to develop materials and translate complex topics into channel-specific formats

Serve as a key resource when the team needs to respond quickly to emerging topics or prepare a spokesperson

### Cross-Functional & Team Support

Serve as the Energy & Water liaison to Public Policy, Legal, Community Engagement, and Economic Development partner teams, aligning on messaging, sequencing, and tone before positions reach external audiences

Work closely with the External Engagement team to ensure E&W subject matter is well-represented in event programming

Coordinate with Water and Energy SMEs to stay current on technical data (FAQ maintenance, approved stats, updated infrastructure positions)

Support regional leads and the broader team with ad hoc communications needs — presentations, talking points for senior stakeholders, positioning for emerging issues

Drive negotiations and agreements to support community benefit energy and water projects as needed
