Hard problems that make you a better engineer. ### Distributed purchase orchestration at Amazon scale idempotency, blast-radius control, retry safety, and correctness where every bug is somebody's real money. 3. Cross-team leverage. Our launches move Payments, Search, and partner teams. 4. A charter that's growing. We're scaling toward hundreds of millions of ASINs and 100MM+ customers in 2026. ### What you'll actually build - Seamless purchase orchestration: the services that turn "Place Order" into a completed, correct transaction across external merchants. - Safe rollout tooling: monitoring, impact analysis, and guardrails so we ship fast without waking anyone at 3am. - Integrations with payment rails and merchant onboarding pipelines that expand what's buyable. - Whatever the next phase needs: this space is being invented, and your ideas shape it. ### Key job responsibilities We're looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer with expertise in back-end system and online service to architect, design, and develop shopping experiences. In this role, you will build expertise in online service architecture, API development, and distributed systems that power Buy For Me. - Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market. - Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry. - Deliver customer value in an iterative fashion while working towards longer term systems goals. - Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use. - Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems. - Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software. ### About the team The OAS (Off-Amazon Selection) Ordering team owns purchase orchestration for agentic and deterministic paths, offer qualification for e-commerce deterministic protocols (ACP, UCP), and order fulfillment workflows.
